Active Treasure Hunts: Published adventures waiting for you to solve.

It’s not often that a treasure hunt lands in your lap with the intrigue of a forgotten pirate map and the polish of a bestselling thriller. But that’s exactly what There’s Treasure Inside by Jon Collins-Black, and Beyond the Map's Edge by Justin M. Posey offer their readers.
Jon Collins-Black's book contains clues leading to five actual hidden treasures somewhere out there in the real world. Not a fictional puzzle, not a metaphor. A real treasure. Just waiting to be found.
This isn’t some recycled internet hoax or clickbait marketing stunt. Jon Collins-Black made his fortune investing in Bitcoin. Inspired by Forrest Fenn's The Thrill of the Chase, he has now hid multiple treasure boxes across America. For reference, Forrest Fenn hid a treasure in the Rocky Mountains and then published a book with a poem leading to its location. The tradition of authors hiding treasure and then publishing a book dates back even further than Fenn's The Thrill of the Chase.
In 1982, Byron Priess a publisher, buried 12 plexiglass boxes, each containing a ceramic clock. He then wrote and published a book called The Secret, which contained several poems and paintings that cryptically held clues leading to the location of the buried boxes. The clock points to an hour, which refers to a month of the year. Return the clock and you get a large gemstone associated with that month's birthstone. To date, only three of the twelve boxes have been found.
The second book I mentioned, Beyond the Map's Edge was written by Justin M. Posey. Forrest Fenn also inspired him, and his treasure contains some of the artifacts that were once hidden in Fenn's chest and have since been recovered. If you are looking to search for Justin's treasure yourself, be sure to check out Netflix's Gold & Greed: The Hunt for Fenn's Treasure, as he is featured in that documentary and has hidden additional clues in that film.
If you’ve ever dreamed of being a modern-day Indiana Jones or solving a puzzle that leads to buried treasure, you may want to pick up a copy of either of these curious little books and follow along. Together, we’ll chase the thrill of the unknown, and maybe, just maybe, find what’s been hidden in plain sight.
